Let me start by saying congratulations and thank you so much for choosing me to capture your new bundle of joy!
Newborn sessions are designed for newborns 14 days and younger. During this time newborns tend to be sleepier and still very flexible (known as the newborn curl), making it easier to position them happily and comfortably.
I will set your newborn session for the due date, but, as you know most babies come when they’re good and ready. Once you have given birth, please get in contact with me as soon as you get a chance via my mobile 084 729 3775 or email, and we will select and lock in a date for your newborn session. If you’re booked in for a c-section, your session will be booked for approximately a week after, depending on if you would require a longer hospital stay.
You can expect your newborn session to last approximately 2-3 hours. This ensures we have enough time to pose, get baby to sleep, and take whatever breaks are necessary for feedings, changes and comforting. Not all babies are the same, and therefor a session may run shorter than the average 2 hours.
The studio is kept at warm, 25º celsius temperature, so your newborn will be comfortable. This is a similar temperature as in the womb, so your baby will be happy as a clam, but you may be a tad uncomfortable, therefore, please bring along cool clothing for yourself.
Before the session starts, I will have you feed baby and do a nappy change, so that once we start baby will be happy, satisfied, and very sleepy.
Please do know that your baby’s health and safety are my primary concerns. All props, wraps and blankets are washed and sanitised after each session, and my hands are sanitised at all times too. I will never position your baby into a pose which is dangerous, nor will I ever force your baby into a pose as this can lead to injury.
Dress code – For parents and sibling sessions, I usually suggest wearing clothing which are neutral in colour, with little to no patterns. This will be discussed in more detail during our pre-shoot consult.
Feel free to email any photos or ideas you have for your session to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please use your name in the subject line.
I will always do my best to in-corporate the requests of clients, but due to safety concerns, these requests cant always be met. Thank you for your understanding.
